ESSENCE BY THE GRID - Goodies Corner

My brother and I decided to check out one more restaurant for a quick lunch (just like the old days) before I left Lagos and that’s how we landed at Essence by the Grid. I must say they exceeded my expectations and even my brother was impressed.

LOCATION

Essence by the Grid is located at 15a Sasegbon St, Ikeja GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. Google map directions are quite accurate.

AMBIENCE

Firstly, one word to describe Essence by the Grid is Cosy. The interior decor is quite minimalistic and elegant, almost like it was intentionally made for dates and other intimate events with small crowds. Secondly, the seating arrangement gives enough room for people to move around quite comfortably; basically, they managed their space really well as it isn’t so big but can sit up to 25 people at a time.

I really loved their choice of lights – warm and just bright enough to take good pictures. Likewise, the mixture of dark green yellow and brown wooden chairs and floors gave a very calming and relaxing feel.

FOOD

What we ordered:

Club Sandwich – ₦6000
Seafood Pasta – ₦7000
Water – ₦300 each

This is probably the first, maybe the second time I’ve had actual Seafood Pasta. It was a nice mix of prawns, calamari, fish fillet and pasta in sweet tomato sauce. At first, I thought the portion was small but it was actually very filling! I don’t think I could’ve eaten more. Similarly, my brother loved the club sandwich. A decent portion of fries accompanied the perfectly toasted sliced bread with chicken and veggies filling.

SERVICE

It is fair to say Essence by the Grid has great customer service and we could see this right from the gate when we were looking for a spot to keep my travel luggage. The security guard we met was very helpful and kept it safe for me. Likewise, the waiter was patient while taking our orders and was very quick to inform us when something on the menu wasn’t available.

In conclusion, I’d give them a 4.5-star rating and it’s another spot I’ll definitely visit whenever I’m in Lagos again.
