THE LIVING ROOM ABUJA

My friend and I took a quick stroll to The Living Room, a new cafe that opened last month in Abuja and I had a very satisfying lunch experience. After seeing a few posts about it on Instagram, I’ve been counting down to my visit and I’m so happy I was not disappointed.

AMBIENCE

The first thing that caught my attention when I first came across a post about The Living Room was the name and truly, the interior decorator got the theme perfectly. It’s a simulation of a standard living room and with the comfy sofa and throw pillows, it’s easy to “feel at home” while enjoying some yummy meals.

They have a smart tv, mini book collection and some card games. This means you can catch up on your favourite series, read a book or play games with friends while you wait for your meal or even after eating.

The Living Room is a really cosy and quiet place with pretty good music and a divine smell. I also loved the color scheme which gives the illusion that the space is bigger than it is because of the mix of cool hues and tones. It’s the perfect space for working, meetings, games night, and dates.

FOOD

The menu is very simple, though I’d say quite limiting. I like the one-page idea which means you get to see everything at a glance and I think they had everything available. This is a whole lot better than having a huge menu with more than half of it unavailable.

What we ordered:

  • Spaghetti Bolognese – ₦4000
  • Quesadilla – ₦3400
  • 2 Lemon iced tea – ₦2800
  • 2 Water – ₦600

This was my first time trying a Quesadilla and I really loved it. It’s a tortilla filled with bacon, sausage, avocado and cheese, served with fries. For me, this was love at first bite. I don’t know if I’ll be willing to try anything else because I really loved this. My friend, Esther had the spaghetti bolognese and she loved her food as well. We were skeptical about the portion at first but she did say it was quite filling.

The lemon iced tea is one of the best iced teas I’ve ever tasted. It was so sweet and refreshing, I almost got a second glass.

SERVICE

Big shout out to Omoh, our waiter, who was very friendly and welcoming. We got the menu a few minutes after we were seated, and placed our order right away. Our orders were ready in about 30 minutes which is not bad at all.

They also offer free wifi that actually works and it’s pretty fast too. Before I left, I was given this form to give feedback about my experience. They also mentioned a loyalty program so when you visit, make sure you fill this form.

Overall I’d give them a 4-star rating and I’ll definitely visit again. In fact, the only thing stopping me from going every other day is the distance and cab fares.
