THE PASHA RESTAURANT, ABUJA

The Pasha restaurant formerly Al Basha Palace is a Lebanese restaurant with a unique structure and ambience. It’s nothing like all the other restaurants I’ve visited in Abuja.

LOCATION

11 Cassandra street, off Usuma street, Maitama, Abuja

AMBIENCE

The word is “different”. There was nothing regular about The Pasha restaurant. From the outside, it looked like I had just arrived at the palace of a well-recognised village king and when I went inside, I just couldn’t get over the interior decor – the red earthy tones of the walls, mats on the roof and the rusty Lebanese ornaments. Every single thing caught my attention as I walked inside.

I wasn’t a fan of the seating arrangement inside because all I could see was a wedding reception seating arrangement with the long tables and their chairs of choice. There was a water fountain that I liked though. the sound of the water running coupled with the Arabian music playing in the background was so soothing.

FOOD

I can’t say much about their original menu because I visited during Mastercard Restaurant week last year courtesy of Lost in a City so I had to order from the MasterCard restaurant week menu.

What I ordered:

  • Appetiser – Fattoush salad and Sambousek
  • Main course – Shish Taouk
  • Dessert – Crème Caramel

It’s pretty easy to know what I enjoyed the most just from looking at the pictures. I loved the salad but the dressing was a little too tangy for me. I would’ve loved my chicken for the main course to be a little spicier too. The crème caramel was light and tasty with a smooth texture and just the right amount of sweetness.

The total for this three-course lunch was ₦9,000.

SERVICE

The waitress that attended to me was friendly and very patient, I emphasise this because it took me a while to pick my orders. She was also very helpful, trying to explain some of the ingredients of different meals. Overall, I’d give The Pasha Restaurant a 3-star rating.
