THE HIVE BY WINGIST, ABUJA

My visit to The Hive by Wingist was totally unplanned but turned out to be amazing. I knew I was visiting the new Tropic Galleria mall but wasn’t sure I’d be having my lunch date there. The last time I dressed up and went out to eat was when I visited Urban Air and honestly, I have really missed it.

LOCATION

Tropic Galleria mall, 269 Mohammadu Buhari Way, besides Grand Square, central business district, Abuja.

It’s on the rooftop of the mall. we got someone to help with direction when we just entered the mall then we discovered some papers on the walls with arrows to guide you to the hive.

AMBIENCE

The first word that came to my mind was ‘breezy’ and I think that is the best way to describe this beautiful rooftop restaurant. They have a sitting arrangement for two and for larger groups. I loved the white chairs and decor which made the space look bigger.

There’s also an indoor bar and lounge that sits about ten people.

FOOD

I think the menu didn’t really give room for options. For the main dish, it is almost like you can either get rice or spaghetti (which wasn’t available). They had some wraps and burgers, salads, then lots of protein options.

What we ordered:

• Chinese fried rice – ₦1500
• BBQ wings (6 pieces) – ₦1900
• Coleslaw – ₦800
• Afro oriental rice – ₦3000
• Coconut kiss (mocktail) – ₦2500
• Coke – ₦500

I had the Afro oriental rice and it tasted really good. It had pieces of beef, chicken, shrimps and eggs. The BBQ wings were very big! Two people can conveniently share six pieces. The sauce tasted different from regular BBQ sauce I was used to but it was good different; I liked it. My date, on the other hand, wasn’t a fan of the sauce and he got tired after eating just two of it.

The only problem I had with the wings was the fact the wings itself wasn’t really seasoned. without the BBQ sauce, there was really no taste.

SERVICE

I was pretty impressed with the service we got at the Hive by Wingist. The waiter was friendly and smart. He took his time to answer questions we had about the meals and was very quick to confirm availability of what we wanted.

The food didn’t take long though I wasn’t really taking note because I was busy taking pictures and recording videos while we waited. Still, I’d say they prepared everything quite on time and the food was affordable. Overall, I’d say my experience was 8/10.

Tropic Galleria Mall

One thing that makes me happy is visiting pretty spaces and the new Tropic Galleria Mall is simply exquisite. Unfortunately, I didn’t walk around so much so I only got a few pictures.

The design of this mall is a masterpiece. It’s still a work in progress as most of the stores are still closed but it’s coming together really nicely already. Tropic galleria mall gives you that vibe of luxury shopping, luxury dining, luxury everything!
