CORNER STORE CAFE, PORT HARCOURT

On my way home for the holidays, I made a quick stop at Port Harcourt to see my brother and a friend. We decided to check out Corner Store Cafe, a coffee shop that serves a variety of coffee drinks and pastries.

LOCATION

14 Tombia Street, GRA 2, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Same building as Sweet Tooth Confectionaries. Another popular building you can use as a landmark is Genesis Cinema.

AMBIENCE

Looking at the building from outside, I actually thought we’ll be walking into a very colourful space but I totally fell in love with what I saw because I’ll pick minimal over busy any day.

I love everything about their space. The decor is very minimalistic and I absolutely love their choice of furniture. There was a neat spread of magazines and other books on the tables which in my opinion is a very good distraction for customers when waiting for their food.

There was soft, relaxing music playing in the background, the seats were arranged to accommodate both large and small groups and there was also an array of chairs at the bar if you choose to go there to be alone. The view from the seats close to the glass was very nice too.

FOOD

They have a wide variety of coffee drinks, cocktails, mocktails, pastries and desserts at relatively fair prices. It’s the kind of place you go to satisfy your sweet tooth and try coffee made in different ways.

We ordered:

  • Plain Waffles – N1000
  • Chocolate Waffles – N1500
  • Icecream – N500 per scoop
  • Water – N300 per bottle

We didn’t have any complaints about the waffles. They were perfect, not extra crispy and not soggy at all. Same with the ice cream; not too frozen and certainly not melted. I’m being very specific about how it was served because these are the little things that can mess up an entire brunch.

SERVICE

I was pretty impressed by their service. We got our food in less than fifteen minutes. I know we ordered only waffles but I’m just happy we didn’t have to wait for long. The waitress was very smart and responsive too.

Overall I rate my experience 8/10 and I’ll definitely be going back. If you plan to visit Port Harcourt anytime soon, make sure you bookmark this post!
