FIVE NON-CLICHÉ VALENTINE’S DAY DATE IDEAS
If you’re still not sure of what to do with your partner, friends or yourself tomorrow, or you’re just one of the last-minute planners, I’m here to help you with some non-cliché Valentine’s day date ideas. I believe Valentine’s dates are not for those in relationships alone, so, these ideas are for both the partnered and the single.
I know some people roll their eyes at the whole concept of having to be really extra one day in the whole year and see it as a time for single people to feel lonely and pressured while some others are super hyped about it and can’t wait to receive boxes of flowers, chocolate, etc.
Regardless of the category you fall into, February is widely known as the month of Love and since I’m a huge fan of love, I’m glad to help. So here are some fun ideas to spice up your date;
1. Sip and Paint Party
This is a very interesting way to bond with your friends or partner. You’ll have so much fun painting whatever you like while sipping on some wine or cocktail. You can attend the ones hosted by events platforms such as Sip and Paint Culture or get props (Canvas, Paint, Aprons, Wine, etc) and have a private party.
2. Paintballing or Go-karting
Paintballing is a very exciting group activity, so it’ll be best to go with friends or just your partner. It’s a good way to engage your body and mind while having fun. I also think it is a good bonding activity. I really liked the shooting range at Central Park so if you’re in Abuja, you can check it out.
3. Have a Picnic
Instead of the cliché date settings where you go to a fancy restaurant and eat overpriced food that doesn’t taste as good, you can curate your own picnic basket with the type of food and drinks you like. Either go to a clean and beautiful park or just have an indoor picnic right in your living room.
4. Kayaking
Whether you know can swim or not, I think Kayaking is something you’ll enjoy. I remember how scared I was when I tried it for the first time but I really enjoyed it and will be doing it again soon. This is also something you can enjoy alone, with friends or your partner.
5. Volunteer For a Cause
I want to believe you show love to your partner and friends every other day of the year. So, this year, make your Valentine super special by giving back to the community. Hospitals, homeless shelters and orphanages are always looking for volunteers, so why not reach out and spread the love!
